If you love fresh seafood, especially crab, visit the ‘No Sign Seafood’ restaurant at 414 Geylang Road in Singapore. It takes that name because its founders operated a seafood stall in the 1980s at the nearby hawker market and they couldn’t afford a sign. This massive Alaskan King crab was creating photo opportunities for customers on the adjacent table to me.

The restaurant is on the edge of the ‘red light’ district, but don’t let that put you off as this is Singapore, a highly regulated and low crime country. You won’t be hassled or see anything that you wouldn’t want the kids to view! The area is a mix of business and residential properties and is very ‘local’. Western food options are limited but if you love Chinese food and especially seafood, this could be your chance to taste the real Singapore. Nearest MRT stop is Aljunied on the East West line.
