The boss of Ryanair is warning holidaymakers to book early for 2017. Michael O’Leary claims that security factors in the eastern Mediterranean are pushing up demand for the western Med.
Hoteliers in Spain are saying they’re taking unprecedented numbers of bookings the 2017. And Mr O’Leary says that Germans who used to go to Turkey are now less inclined to go there and that could make capacity more scarce in Spain.
Meanwhile, familybreakfinder.com has quizzed 1300 people about the places they’d avoid because of safety worries. Egypt is the destination that respondents were most likely to steer clear of. Next in line were Tunisia, Turkey, Brussels, Dubai, Paris, Germany, Greece, Florida and then London.
Half of those surveyed who said they have decided to stay in Britain in 2017 have made that choice because of recent events. Around half of respondents were reportedly nervous about air travel or using the Channel Tunnel.
