Travel author Kevin Kato tackles what is a difficult destination for many because of its recent history and stifling heat.
Kevin’s book, Half A Million Miles From Home, recounts his experience of visiting Cambodia. He describes his trip to the Angkor Wat temples and to The Killing Fields, just a 45 minute ride from the capital. He also visited the infamous S21 prison. The ruling regime killed over one million people in this area between 1975 and 1979.
The title isn’t so much to do with the distance from Kevin’s native United States or Japan where he lives, but hints at the hugely different culture of Cambodia. Keri Jones spoke with Kevin.
